Lovin' Where I Live for October

I've realized time and time again that what we will seek we will find.  In searching for reasons to love where I live, I've found plenty and each month I seem to pocket them away to proudly declare on this little blog.  While I love fall and October brings the full changing of seasons, I'm going to admit that Halloween is not my favorite holiday.  Some people live for that day but I, quite frankly, live for the day after.

That being said, I'm here to state that if one is to experience Halloween in a way that it should be celebrated, then it most certainly should be done the way it is where I live.  My neighborhood and the die hard Halloweenites sure do rock the holiday in a way that's not the norm.

At first, it took some getting used to that only 3 trick-or-treaters even came to our house for all the action occurs on one or two streets only.  Now we leave those 3 trick-or-treaters and head for higher ground.

Here's proof of the street's popularity just as the sun is setting.  All those cars do not belong to anyone that lives here.  Word travels fast and everyone wants in on the action.

That action being more than begging for candy and rather a social celebration for everyone.  House #1 getting ready for all the action.  With a spook-alley garage and an array of food being served, there's something for everyone.

On the menu was hot chocolate, nachos with "gas station" cheese, chili, fresh scones with delicious flavored butter, sliced apples drizzled with caramel, hot dogs and warm french fries with true Idaho spuds.  This is all in addition to the king sized candy bars that a few neighbors dropped in our bags.

Children swarmed the place with excitement levels that only unlimited candy can bring.

Now this is how Halloween should be.

A devil and a ballerina although two little devils would be very fitting for this duo.

So for those of you that live where I live and want to experience Halloween how it should be, then come and join our festivities for next year.  Until then, I know you're jealous.

Cry - ah?  As my brother Taylor would say.

Day 8 gratitude..... I'm ever so grateful for modern conveniences like heat and electricity because I'm 150% sure that I would have made an awful pioneer.

  1. I think Ezra and I felt about the same way by the end of that night. Thanks for letting us come crash your killer neighborhood. I never did brave any of the spook alley's, but maybe I'll get up the gumption next year. =)
